West Midlands Police discovered the parts of 14 stolen cars and bikes after raiding a suspected chop shop in Yardley. The force’s Gangs and Vehicle crime team found the broken up pieces of a stolen Toyota, Ford Focus, Nissan Juke, VW Golf and a motorbike as parts from high-value vehicles such as a Nissan GTR and Mercedes E63s in two shipping containers.
The bust was carried out at an undisclosed location in South Yardley on April 14. The scale of what was uncovered pointed clearly to an organised operation – not opportunistic theft, but a structured criminal network dismantling stolen vehicles for parts and profit.
Chop shops like this represent one of the most damaging forms of vehicle crime. Once a vehicle is broken down into parts, recovery becomes significantly harder, traceability is lost, and the financial impact on insurers and owners is severe.
